A weekend to Cheese Country

Time to see some family in my home country, eat some cheese, drink some Heineken and find some nature to enjoy. Can you guess where I’m going? …… HOLLAND!

Although Holland doesn’t have the all-year-round sunshine we have in Spain, it does have some amazing outdoors you cannot miss out on.  Since the Netherlands is pretty small everything is close by. So if you want to enjoy the sunset at the coast, have a walk in the forest, or have a run around a lake it will not take you more than an hours drive.
First I went to my family near Gouda (Goudse Cheese) and after some meet and greet the night before I wanted to go for a run the next morning. In my opinion the best place to do this is in the middle of a small nature nature preserve  with meadows and a beautiful lake. I think the images below speak for themselves.

In the afternoon I wanted so see a friend of mine who lives in the middle of the forest and I took the best looking dog ever with me. In the area of Ermelo, Voorthuizen and Barneveld you can find some amazing breathtaking areas where you can enjoy the Dutch nature at it’s best.

And to finish off this enjoyable weekend I took some time the next day to have a walk on the long stretched beaches of Scheveningen where the dog could still run free (October – May).

So if you’re thinking about going to Holland for a couple of days and do not only want to see city centres, you now have some more information on the possibilities. Of course do not hesitate to ask for information or great places to go.
